While we all try to keep up with all of the new technologies that are out there today, there is going to be a machine out there that will stump up. Or, worse than that, a machine that suddenly stops working properly and you can't fix it on your own. That's what the 1-800 number on the package is for. Many people could save themselves a lot of trouble and frustration if they stopped trying to figure things out on their own and just called the phone company or tankless water heater manufacturer and asked for help. But, you usually need patience to deal with the people on the other end of the phone line as well. Here are some tips for calling 1-800 numbers.
Have all of the information that they might ask for ready before you even dial the number. One of the most frustrating things that can happen is you finally get the makers of that waste water treatment chemical on the phone and you can't find the product number. This usually ends up meaning that on top of being frustrated you are also now making a huge mess out of your basement or office looking for the information. Try and have anything that they might ask you about figured out before you have a phone occupying one of your hands. That could mean turning your computer tower around so that you can see the connections on the back or using a portable phone where you can look at that site for online post card printing while you're speaking to the help agent.
Know the system before you allow yourself to get more frustrated. Most times when you're calling a help centre, you are not dealing with someone who actually knows much more about the product than you do. They are hired to answer the phone and run you through a bunch of frequent scenarios that might be the problem. If you're calling to ask about the custom license plate frame design that you created online and you feel that your question is unique, ask to speak to someone higher up in the company who may have the answer. Otherwise, do your best to be patient with the person at the other end as they run you through all of the necessary paces.
Even if you're calling to complain, try to remain composed and civil on the phone. If you're calling a complaint line for used septic tank trucks used in your area or an electronic that broke, realize that the person on the other end will likely respond better to a calm voice than an angry person. You can definitely get further with honey than vinegar when it comes to call-in centers.
